Hair Extension Aftercare Guide
Washing & Conditioning
Frequency: Wash your hair 2–3 times per week maximum to preserve natural moisture and the lifespan of your extensions.
Washing Technique: Always wash upright in the shower (never over a sink). Gently massage shampoo into your scalp between rows or bonds—never scrub in circular motions to avoid matting.
The Conditioner Rule: Apply conditioner, masks, and treatments strictly from mid-lengths to ends. Keep all oils and rich moisture products completely off your roots, tapes, bonds, rings, or weft tracks, as they will cause slippage.
Water Temperature: Use lukewarm water. Extremely hot water opens the hair cuticle and breaks down adhesives much faster.
Drying & Heat StylingDaily Brushing & MaintenanceThe First 48 Hours
Never Sleep on Wet Hair: Sleeping with damp hair causes severe matting at the roots. Always ensure your attachments, bonds, and tracks are 100% dry before going to bed.
Drying Technique: Gently towel-blot (do not rub). Apply a heat protectant, then blow-dry your attachments/roots on a cool-to-medium setting first before styling the rest of your hair.
Hot Tools: Keep straighteners, curling wands, and hot tools at least 2 inches away from tape tabs, keratin bonds, and rings to prevent melting or damage.
The Right Brush: Always use a specialised extension brush or soft bristle brush that glides over bonds and tracks without snagging.
Brushing Technique: Support your hair by holding it in a low ponytail with one hand while gently brushing from the ends upward to the roots.
Daily Separation: Run your fingers through your root area daily to check that individual bonds, tapes, or rings are not twisting or matting together.
Sleep & Lifestyle ProtectionRecommended Products & Ingredients to Avoid
Do Not Wash: Keep your hair completely dry for 48 hours post-application. Keratin bonds and tape adhesives need time to fully set and cure, while wefts and rings need time for your scalp to settle.
Avoid Sweat & Steam: Skip intense workouts, heavy sweating, saunas, and steam rooms during this initial 48-hour window to protect the adhesives and beads.
No Tight Styles: Avoid high, tight ponytails or heavy updos for the first few days to prevent unnecessary tension on your scalp and root area.
Nighttime Routine: Secure your hair in a loose, low braid or ponytail using a silk scrunchie before sleep to prevent friction and tangling overnight.
Silk Pillowcase: Sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase to minimise frizz, breakage, and moisture loss.
Swimming & Activities: Saltwater and chlorine can dry out extension hair and alter blonde tones. Always tie your hair up, avoid submerging it if possible, rinse thoroughly with fresh water immediately after swimming, and apply a leave-in conditioner.
